Saarlouis. The deputy chairman of the regional association of miners, smelters and miners’ associations in Saarland. V., Günter Felten, recently presented a check for 1,000 euros to the head of the Ehrensache e.V. association. V., Petra Jenal.
“Helpfulness and solidarity are no foreign words for miners,” explains Günter Felten. “We have therefore decided to donate the proceeds from the donations from visitors to the Fell Miner’s Chapel benefit concert, which took place on the eve of the 10th Miner’s Day on June 24th in the well-filled festival tent in Ensdorf, to a charitable cause. We chose the riding therapy center in Altforweiler.”
Founder and club chairwoman Petra Jenal thanked her warmly and assured that this donation was a welcome contribution to supporting her important and valuable work. 13 years ago, on April 25, 2010, Petra Jenal founded the “Ehrensache” association based in Überherrn-Altforweiler. The association has set itself the goal of making horse therapy known, promoting it and financing therapy sessions for young people with disabilities who cannot afford this special form of physiotherapy on horses. Even seriously ill children at the end of their short lives can still spend happy hours with the horses as part of palliative care. “The real therapists are the horses,” assures Petra Jenal. “It always touches us deeply when we see severely traumatized or autistic children trusting horses. Every hour that the children spend with the horses sooner or later bears fruit for their development and well-being. That’s why we live and work here.”
The construction of the equestrian therapy center and the construction of its entire facility could only be achieved with the help of private donors, friends and patrons. In addition, the club also finances equipment for riders and horses as well as special purchases, most recently a lift that makes it easier to get on the horse.
The delegation from the regional association was very impressed after a detailed tour of the facilities led by Petra Jenal. Everyone agrees: “Our donation is in the best hands here. It is used sensibly.” This is also the message to the visitors to the benefit concert who donated so generously. red./jb
