Sales of electrified vehicles (electric and plug-in hybrids, including passenger cars, quadricycles, commercial and industrial vehicles and buses) increased by 18.3% in the month of September, with 9,484 units sold. In the ninth month, electrified vehicles account for 11.5% of the general market, 1.4 points more than the previous year.

As for pure electric vehicles, the figures for Handy They point out that their sales increased by 18.6% in September, with 4,541 units registered. It represents 5.51% of the market share for the month. For the year as a whole, sales of these vehicles total 42,364 units, 69.8% more than in the same period of the previous year.

Although more slowly than in the rest of Europe, the sale of electric cars increases month after month in Spain, despite one of the problems that potential buyers highlight: the lack of public charging points.

The number of operational public access charging points in Spain, accumulated at the end of last September 2023, is 27,420, which shows an increase of 27.1% compared to the data at the end of the 2022 year (21,573 ) reported in the 2022-2023 Electric Mobility Yearbook presented by the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility, Aedive.

Especially significant is the growth of ultra-fast charging points (charging with power above 50 kW), going from 1,293 charging points at the end of 2022, to 2,056 charging points (at the end of September), which represents a growth of practically 60%.

To contribute to the improvement of the electrification map, Zunder has announced the opening of the first ultra-fast charging stations in Spain powered exclusively by batteries and photovoltaic panels, reinforcing the deployment of ultra-fast electric charging stations.

These stations, in addition to having Zunder’s characteristic photovoltaic structures, have batteries covered by solar panels that generate clean and sustainable energy, supported by other solar modules strategically located on the transformation centers.

With this investment, which is part of the Moves II Singulares Program and has been supported with a grant from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), Zunder “significantly” accelerates the deployment of charging stations and the implementation of batteries powered by renewable energy.

The company’s CEO, Daniel Pérez, has stated that they are constantly searching for solutions to the challenges they face and has assured that “this innovative solution will accelerate the implementation of the interurban and ultra-fast charging network that Zunder is deploying.” .

Zunder has highlighted that the integration of batteries, in collaboration with Capital Energy, is “a crucial step” towards more sustainable electric mobility, allowing continuous operation even when there is no power supply.

The main objective of this project is to make the process of opening ultra-fast charging stations more flexible, providing coverage, shortening the deadlines to put said station into operation without having to rely on the distributor’s connection and begin to offer service in a self-sufficient manner.

Specifically, these stations are located at: Restaurante La Zamorana-Gomezserracín (Carretera Segovia Valladolid, Highway A-601, km 67, 40240, Gomezserracín, Segovia); Hostal Rte.Portugal II-Almaraz (Southwest Highway, km.200, 10350 Almaraz, Cáceres) and Hotel Villa Los Arcos, Los Arcos (Calle Carretera, 14, 31210 Los Arcos, Navarra).

The other integrated batteries will be distributed in 40 locations throughout Spain and the next ones to open will be located in Barcelona, Murcia, Zamora, Burgos, Zaragoza and La Rioja, among other regions.
