The television channel France 3 and the regional radio stations France Bleu will come together under a “single brand” called “Ici”, Delphine Ernotte and Sibyle Veil, respectively presidents of France Télévisions and Radio France, announced to Ouest-France.

“We are formalizing the union of our two networks, France 3 and France Bleu, to provide an editorial offering even closer to listeners, viewers and Internet users. We are launching a new global local media,” declared Ms. Ernotte this Tuesday, October 17.

“We are starting a new capital stage with Ici to make the most of our complementarities” and, “progressively, our brands will fade behind a single brand”, confirms Ms. Veil.

The teams of France 3 (3,100 employees) and France Bleu (1,500 employees), “region by region”, must now “think about a common editorial line”. The idea is to find a “strategic plan linked to the financial trajectory given by the government”, with a view to a “common roadmap” at the start of 2024. As reported by AFP, in addition to the fixed budget of public audiovisual, the draft state budget for 2024 provides for an “additional envelope” of 200 million euros over three years (including 69 million for 2024), to finance “transformation projects”.

Since September, the national editions “12/13” and “19/20” of France 3 have already been replaced by 24 regional editions designated under the generic name “Ici”. Paradoxically, these will still include topics on national, or even international, news.
