JAMBI – The Jambi City Government has again taken the decision to lay off students and hold Distance Learning (PJJ) online due to the haze. This decision applies to students at PAUD, Kindergarten, Elementary School and Middle School levels, from Wednesday 18 October to Friday 20 October 2023.
The reason is, the air quality condition is due to smoke haze from land fires once again covering Jambi City. As a result, it is very unhealthy, very dangerous for human health, especially students.
“However, this policy will continue to be reviewed according to the situation, because at any time the situation can change,” said Jambi City Government Spokesperson, Abu Bakar, Tuesday (17/10/2023).
According to him, this policy is contained in the Jambi Mayor’s Circular number 21/EDR/HKU/2023 dated 17 October 2023 concerning the Implementation of Teaching and Learning Activities (KBM) during the Haze Period in Jambi City.
He said, the decision was taken by considering the actual conditions resulting from air quality measurements in the last 48 hours by the Task Force for Preparedness and Vigilance for Preventing and Controlling the Impact of Haze in Jambi City.
“Based on reports from analysis and monitoring carried out by the task force in the last 48 hours, the air quality condition is again very unhealthy, very dangerous for human health, especially students. We estimate that this condition will persist in the next few days. Therefore “We have decided to send students home again,” he explained.
During these 48 hours, explained Abu, there was a significant upward trend in the parameters PM 10 and PM 2.5, which are critical parameters for reference for air quality standards in Jambi City.
