Tidal is the recommended form as a compound adjective to refer to the movement of the tides, not tidal wave.
Sometimes you see in the media phrases like “The largest tidal turbine in the world looks like a spaceship”, “The latest cry in renewable energy: solar, wind and tidal at the same time” or “The tidal plant that beats the record of electricity production.
As a general rule, words composed of two adjectives modify the first by adopting a variant ending in -olike in jaw + facial > maxillofacial; oral + dental > oral. This is the case of the form dizziness– (derived from the adjective royal)what conforms to the usual guidelines for this type of compounds and is the appropriate one to name the energy obtained by taking advantage of the rises and falls (high tide and low tide) of sea wateras stated in the Dictionary of the Spanish language.
Thus, in the initial examples, the appropriate thing would have been to write “The largest tidal turbine in the world looks like a spaceship”, “The latest cry in renewable energy: solar, wind and tidal at the same time” and “The tidal plant that beats the record of electricity production.
