Mateus Gonçalves Pereira and Jorge Luiz Delledove exchanged shots with DOF police officers during their escape

The two men killed in a confrontation with DOF (Department of Border Operations) officers this Tuesday (17) in Caarapó, 274 km from Campo Grande, were identified as Mateus Gonçalves Pereira, 21, and Jorge Luiz Delledove, 20.
The duo was identified as responsible for the robbery of a jewelry store in the city center. Surveillance cameras captured the moment when the two men wearing helmets overpowered the guard outside and forced him to enter the store with them (see images below).
Inside the jewelry store, the robbers ordered the guard and an attendant to lie down on the floor. Using a bag and a backpack, they collected valuables and then fled.
Police forces were notified and a DOF team managed to locate the pair in the rural area of the municipality. During an attempted approach, the suspects reacted by shooting. The police retaliated and shot them both. Taken to the São Mateus Beneficent Hospital, Mateus and Jorge Luiz arrived dead.
The case is investigated by Defron (Specialized Police Station for the Repression of Border Crimes). Police have not yet said whether all the jewelry taken has been recovered.
