MADRID, 18 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

India will implement its space program to have its own space station in 2035 and send the first astronaut of this nationality to the Moon by 2040.

Taking advantage of the success of the pioneering Chandrayan-3 robotic mission to the south pole of the Moon and the launch of Aditya L1 solar observatory, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India’s space program “should now aim for new and ambitious goals”, such as those mentioned, according to an official statement.

Modi chaired a high-level meeting to assess the progress of India’s Gaganyaan Mission and outline the future of India’s space exploration efforts. Gaganyaan, India’s first manned mission to space is scheduled for 2025 and the first demonstration flight is scheduled for October 21 of the crew exhaust system test vehicle.

In the meeting, Modi determined that the Department of Space will develop a roadmap for the exploration of the Moon. This will encompass a series of Chandrayaan missions, development of a next generation launch vehicle (NGLV), construction of a new launch pad, creation of human-centric laboratories and associated technologies.

The Prime Minister also asked Indian scientists to work on interplanetary missions that would include an orbital mission to Venus and a lander for Mars.
