National Operational Department in Stockholm County Announces Job Openings for Serious Crimes Investigators

Stockholm, October 18, 2023 – The National Operational Department (Noa) in Stockholm County has announced new job openings for investigators in serious crimes. The department is responsible for leading and coordinating national and international police activities, as well as driving the police’s development work. The role of investigators in serious crimes is crucial in combating organized crime and increasing security in Sweden.

The investigation unit within Noa is responsible for the investigation of certain types of crime that require national processing or are of rare occurrence. The unit also assists police regions in activities that are too complex for the regions to handle. The section for action group activities, which focuses on combating organized crime, is expanding and will consist of approximately 300 police employees located across the Police Authority’s seven regions and at Noa.

As a serious crimes investigator, the main duties will include investigating complex serious crimes with an intelligence nature, often with an international character. This work will involve handling extensive preliminary investigation material and using covert means of coercion when necessary.

Applicants for this role must have a police degree or criminal investigator training, or equivalent work experience. Several years of experience in investigation within crime-fighting activities are also required. Good knowledge of both Swedish and English, both oral and written, is essential, as well as a B driver’s license. Additional qualifications such as work experience in organized crime, work aimed at the finances of criminals, and international cooperation in law enforcement are advantageous.

Personal characteristics such as humility, curiosity, teamwork skills, methodical and structured work approach, collaboration skills, personal integrity, flexibility, and the ability to define and prioritize tasks are highly valued for this position. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
