PSG wants to continue in the European Cup. Beaten in their third Champions League match by Kielce, Paris Saint-Germain Handball made up for it last week, with a lackluster victory against the Macedonians of Pelister (31-26). Despite their far from exciting start to the European campaign, the Parisians are nevertheless having a perfect season so far in the Liqui Moly StarLigue.
With six victories in six matches, PSG sits at the top of the standings, matched only by Montpellier, author of a flawless performance so far. This weekend, the capital club continued its series, traveling to Chartres (27-34). Nikola Karabatic and his team rolled on, offering themselves a comfortable victory after returning to the locker room with an eleven-point lead at half-time.
This Wednesday at the Pierre-de-Coubertin stadium, the Parisians will have to win against the Danes from Aalborg Håndbold, under penalty of losing their second place in the standings of their European group. Only one of these two places, at the end of the group stage, will offer them a direct ticket to the quarters. Otherwise, PSG will have to go through the round of 16 (provided they finish in the top 6 of the group).
If successful this Wednesday, Aalborg would therefore move ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in this Group A. The Danes are currently a small point behind Paris, with two victories, a draw and a defeat.
The PSG-Aalborg kick-off is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. this Wednesday, October 18, and the match will be broadcast live on the Eurosport 2 channel.
