150 years of Budapest
Written by Bettina Nemes
The capital will celebrate Budapest’s 150th birthday on November 17th with days of parties, performances, concerts and an open-air exhibition.
For the birthday celebrations, which are organized together with the city, the inner courtyard of the town hall will be opened and a promenade will be opened between Károly körút and Városház utca. The town hall courtyard also offers a variety of programs. Visitors can, among other things, see The Budapester’s illustrations on posters for the first time: 151 Hungarian illustrators have created a year and an important event in the history of the capital from 1873 to the present day.
To mark the anniversary, the Merlin Theater will also reopen after twelve years as part of the ALT.BP Festival. The performances are free, but require prior registration.
You can dance to DJ sets on the tram 49 line – the party tram that became very popular last year.
