MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Moroccan authorities announced this Thursday the arrest of four people linked to the Islamic State jihadist group for their alleged involvement in “the preparation of dangerous terrorist projects.”

The Central Office of Judicial Investigations (OCIJ) has indicated that the operations have been carried out in Tangier, Tetouan and Inezgan Ait Melul, while detailing that they were launched based on information from the services of the General Directorate of Surveillance of the National Territory (DGST).

The organization has highlighted that the detainees, who are between 25 and 32 years old, had plans to “attack the security and stability” of the North African country, according to the Moroccan state news agency, MAP.

Likewise, he highlighted that during the operations electronic material, bladed weapons and documents advocating the ideology of the Islamic State were seized, as well as documents on ways to reach the bases of the jihadist group in the SAhel region.

The suspects would have sworn allegiance to the Islamic State and planned to carry out attacks as ‘lone wolves’, while one of them would have even tried to join one of the branches that operates in the Sahel. Investigations continue to reveal the extent of these plans to attack in Morocco.
