Tribute to Rwagasore: Burundi remembers its hero. The 62nd anniversary of the assassination of Rwagasore commemorated in Ruyigi.
Buhumuza ( Ruyigi ), October 13, 2023 – This Friday, Ms. Tabu Emmerencienne, the governess of Ruyigi, accompanied by representatives of the administration, different local political parties and citizens of the province, celebrated thehe 62nd anniversary of the assassination of the hero of Burundi’s independence, the blessed ancestor Rwagasore. Wreaths of flowers were placed on his monument.
In 1959, the United States, the Vatican, France and Belgium united their voices to put an end to l’état traditional des Barundi, the Kingdom of Burundi. This agreement was sealed by the Belgian colonial decree of December 25, 1959 [1].
