While the singer had announced at the beginning of September that he would be able to resume his concerts next year, he finally had to backtrack, his vocal cords still damaged.

It’s the emotional elevator. Singer Christophe Miossec announced this Thursday, October 19, that he would not be able to perform his tour planned for 2024. Barely two months ago, however, he made his fans jump for joy, when he told them he was cured of his cancer of the vocal cords, and be able to return to work. But now, in his latest Instagram post, he shares the new progress in his state of health: “If the vocal cords are “cured”, they remain damaged by the radiation sessions”. A setback which upsets the singer: accompanied by a photo of a gray sky, he begins his press release with “Weather, very, cloudy forecast”, and ends it with “everything is blue when the black goes away, but for moment, black, is there. I tell you, when will one day come back, yes, the clearing will come.

It is therefore time for a forced break for the singer who has been releasing albums for a long time – approximately one every three years – and tours. “It’s not easy to give up, after 30 years of touring, what is, I realize, a reason for being,” he confides to his some 11,200 subscribers on Instagram. It must be said that the rocker has not been idle during his almost thirty-year career, although he has had to make some adjustments since his first album, Boire. Because, “drinking”, precisely, he must do without it now. In 2009, he was diagnosed with ataxia, a neuromuscular disease that modifies balance and coordination of the limbs. The only solution, plus a drop of alcohol, or else it’s paralysis. But it was another illness, cancer of the vocal cords, which pushed him to cancel his previous tour, in April 2023.

In thirty years of career, Miossec has established himself as one of the pillars of French song and one of its most sought-after writers. He who covered in his own – dilapidated – way – The Girl Who I Think of by Johnny Hallyday in his first album, ended up writing, among others, for the French’s favorite rocker. After around ten albums, where he sang at regular intervals about his hometown, Brest, he was once again able to seduce the hearts of his fans with his new album, Simplify, in 2023. So, while waiting for his return on stage, his listeners will be able to “drink” a glass (of whatever they want) to his health.
