The Turkey-Africa Business and Economic Forum (TABEF) is in its 4th edition. Malagasy companies will attend this forum with 3,000 participants from Africa and the rest of the world on October 12 and 13, 2023 at the Istanbul Congress Center.

The Forum aims to promote trade and investment, as well as explore the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). On the program, there will be thematic panels and bilateral business meetings. The sectors concerned will be energy, infrastructure, agriculture, agro-industry, health, tourism, marketing, digital, etc.

Participants include representatives from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Export-Import Bank (Afrieximbank), the Turkish Export Credit Bank (Türk Eximbank), as well as organizations international organizations, NGOs, chambers of commerce and industry, and other economic sectors. According to an unofficial source, the aim is to increase the total trade volume between Turkey and Africa to $75 billion, a significant increase from the previous year’s $40.7 billion. .

The Forum also wants to establish export connections, ensure that Turkey is not a stranger to African markets, which it does not know very well, and increase the awareness of Turkish SMEs in Africa

The AfCFTA is the world’s largest free trade zone and offers prospects for intra-African trade, with a projected increase of 52.3% by 2025 and an increase in African revenues of $450 billion by 2035.

Since the opening of the Turkish embassy in Antananarivo, trade between the two countries has been tripled and turnover will be around 102 million USD in 2022, according to the Turkish ambassador to Madagascar last January. .
