United States President Joe Biden spoke on Thursday (19) highlighting the importance of sending financial aid to Israel and Ukraine amid global challenges. During his speech, Biden made a comparison between the terrorist group Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Innocent Palestinians just want to live in peace and have dignity. (…) Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people. Hamas and Putin are different, but they have this in common: they both want to annihilate neighboring democracies,” he declared.

The president emphasized that the success of Ukraine and Israel in their respective conflicts is critical to the national security of the United States.

Since 2022, the United States has provided financial and military assistance to Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion.

Biden also highlighted his recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the country. At this meeting, the United States offered military support to Israel in its confrontation with the terrorist group Hamas.

During his approximately 15-minute speech, President Biden recognized the importance of a moment in world history.

He expressed commitment to both Israel and the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need to ensure the coexistence of two states so that Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace.

“We can’t just observe when there is anti-Semitism or Islamophobia. I must say that we are all Americans. We cannot live in fear”, he pointed out.

Furthermore, Biden drew a connection between conflicts in the Middle East and the situation in Ukraine, highlighting the complex interconnectedness of global challenges.

The president announced his plans to send an unprecedented and urgent aid package to the United States Congress on Friday the 20th. The objective is to obtain approval for spending and distribution of assistance to allied countries.
