Since surgeon Aníbal Lotocki surrendered to the authorities, there are versions that detail what his conditions are like as a detainee. In the midst of this preventive detention measure until his trial, journalist Diego Esteves was in charge of clarifying the questions about the doctor’s cell.
“It is an absolutely precarious place,” began the panelist in A la Tarde (América). Immediately afterwards, he told more gruesome facts: “Thank you if you have a mattress, you have a latrine, a hole in the floor to do your business and they tell me that the smell is nauseating. It is a very difficult space to resist, especially if you are not used to precarious places.”

So far it is unknown if by order of the Court the doctor will go to a prison with common prisoners, but in any case, the details he gave refer to his first instance as a detainee. “It has tiny dimensions, approximately two meters long by one fifty wide,” the communicator revealed to Karina Mazzocco.
As explained, María José Favarón, the detainee’s wife, is experiencing moments of maximum anguish and despair. “His greatest fear would be the reception that Lotocki could receive upon his arrival at the prison, if he was transferred to a common cell, because it could be a ‘trophy’ for the prisoners who would live with him and his physical integrity would be at serious risk,” he concluded.

On Thursday afternoon, Aníbal Lotocki had been transferred from the Villa Lugano warden, located on Madariaga and General Paz streets, to Court Unit 28, to be officially entered into the penitentiary system. Finally, around 8 p.m., he entered the Ezeiza prison where he will serve preventive detention.
The surgeon is accused of Simple Homicide with possible intent for the death of Cristian Zárate. The ruling that determined his arrest was issued by Room 4 of the Criminal and Correctional Appeals Chamber around 8 p.m.

With a strong police presence and after more than two hours in the Courts unit, Lotocki had left aboard a Federal Penitentiary Service van without making any statements. Majo Favarón, his wife, was able to see him a few minutes before leaving the unit on Talcahuano Street.
Ileana Lombardo, Aníbal Lotocki’s lawyer, spoke about the doctor’s judicial situation one day after his arrest. “It was an act of betrayal,” she denounced.
