BJP state general secretary Subhash Sharma has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner seeking postponement of the Punjab Assembly elections.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, BJP state general secretary Subhash Sharma stated:

“The Punjab Assembly elections have been declared for February 14. Guru Ravidas Jayanti will be observed on February 16.

Guru Ravidas’ followers are substantial in the state, including those on the list who make up 32 per cent of the population of Punjab. Millions of devotees travel to Banaras in Uttar Pradesh to celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

We urge you to postpone the registration of voters so that they too can participate in the election process. “
