A man indicted for intentional homicide and placed in pre-trial detention after a homicide in Saint-Brieuc on Wednesday, Saint-Brieuc prosecutor Nicolas Heitz announced in a press release on Friday.

Police officers, who intervened “for a dispute between several people” on Wednesday around 1 a.m., discovered “a 37-year-old man lying on the public highway with two chest wounds,” recalls the Saint-Brieuc public prosecutor.

The victim would have “been aggressive towards him”

The same day, a 21-year-old man presented himself at the Saint-Brieuc police station and was taken into custody, continues the prosecutor.

This individual explained that he was walking his dog “when he came across the victim”, who “was aggressive towards him, insulting him and threatening him with a box cutter”. He said he “turned the weapon against the victim” by trying to dodge the blows and that the latter was “still alive and had even tried to catch him” when he left, the prosecutor said.
