Ile-de-France student housing under pressure
Accessing independent accommodation: this is the main problem that students still face in Île-de-France. For accommodation there, they pay around €680 per month, or even €750 in Paris, compared to €530 in other large French cities. The bill goes down in Crous university residences: €380 on average. Among Ile-de-France students, 62% benefit from housing assistance of around €186, or 27% of the rent, charges included. All these candidates come up against the strong tensions of the rental market, deprived of small spaces in the Ile-de-France area. The cause ? The popularity of furnished tourist rentals, which are much more profitable, and competition from other audiences such as young professionals. Finally, the poor energy performance of many studios could dangerously exclude them little by little from the rental market.
