The race was initially scheduled for Sunday, but it is ultimately Saturday morning that MotoGP fans will have to set their alarm. Following a warning of strong winds in Australia, the race was brought forward a day. The sprint race will take place on Sunday.
“This decision was made proactively to ensure the best and safest possible spectacle for all drivers and fans at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit this weekend,” the statement read. official MotoGP press release.

“It won’t be much different from usual,” reassures French driver Johann Zarco. “We have to take advantage of the weather, when we see what will happen on Sunday…” reacts Pol Espargaró. Rain is expected throughout the weekend, while wind gusts of up to 65 km/h could hit Phillip Island this Sunday.
The battle for the world title will therefore continue to be played out on Saturday with the duel between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin. With 346 points and six victories this season, the Italian is currently only 18 points ahead of the Spaniard (328 points, 3 victories). During the last Grand Prix, in Indonesia, Francesco Bagnaia climbed to the highest step of the podium, while Jorge Martin did not finish the race.
A fall which could cost the latter dearly in the fight for the title, as we compete this weekend in the 16th Grand Prix of the season, out of 20.
The Australian Grand Prix is scheduled for 6:10 a.m. French time this Saturday, October 21, and the race will be broadcast on Canal +.
