The amount of content that propagates so-called “subliminal messages” in the world of children has caught the attention of Christians who are most concerned about the education of their children. An example of this is the cutting of a drawing that went viral again on social media, with internet users pointing out what the “mark of the beast” would be.
The cartoon would be “Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Warriors”, available on Netflix. In one of the chapters, a character narrates what would be the provision of a free technology called “Smart Chip”, which is implanted in the population’s arms.
The narration highlights the supposed benefits of technology, such as the ease of accessing services and other resources. The chip, however, is part of the plans of enemies who desire world domination to establish a new “order”, the drawing shows.
Mark of the Beast
Given the images and the narration, internet users associated the “Smart Chip” with what is popularly known in Christian circles as the mark of the beast, a notion taken from the passage in Revelation 13:16-18, where it is written:
“And cause a sign to be placed on everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, [marca] in their right hand, or in their foreheads, so that no one can buy or sell except he who has the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. There is wisdom here. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.”
Based on this passage and the eschatological understanding of it, the entertainment industry has been producing films and other content addressing the theme of the end of times for decades. What internet users questioned, however, was the inclusion of this approach in a children’s cartoon.
For some, this is an attempt to normalize something that will happen in the future in order to accommodate these events in children’s minds. Watch and draw your conclusions:
