This was an excellent decision: around 50 regular participants, many of them with friends or family in Gaza, followed our invitation with numerous banners, Palestine flags, signs, etc.

In a moving event, many courageously spoke about the current situation in Gaza, about murder, misery, destruction and hunger, but also about the tireless struggle of the Palestinian people. We unanimously condemned the attack by the fascist Hamas, but also attacked the Israeli government’s decades-long aggressive settlement policy and oppression against the Palestinians. We observed a minute’s silence in memory of the Israeli and Palestinian victims of the last few days.

Wars, crises, catastrophes worldwide: This has nothing to do with religions. The root of all this evil lies in the imperialist world system. Only real socialism can end this. This was highlighted by the MLPD contribution.

We also criticized the federal government’s “anti-Semitism club,” which puts everyone under general suspicion who expresses criticism of Israel and uses this conflict in the Middle East to further dismantle democratic rights and freedoms in Germany.

One conclusion we all came to was that we wanted to move closer together and work more closely together. We have to be careful about who we associate with: Fascists in Saxony sell T-shirts with the inscription: “Free Palestine”. However, these are enemies of internationalist friendship between peoples and stand in stark contrast to international solidarity.

In the end we collected 115 euros in donations for relief supplies in Gaza. We ended this moving rally with the song “We will not go down in Gaza tonight,” and many participants thanked us for holding it.

Monika Gärtner-Engel, co-president of the United Front, has launched a call for donations for the United Front Germany. The 115 euros from the Dresden solidarity rally are a result of this call. Rote Fahne News is eagerly awaiting further reports on fundraising for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. United Front Germany’s appeal for donations states: “Not only is there a humanitarian catastrophe looming in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, it is already here. That’s why you donate/donate for humanitarian aid to the masses of the population in the Gaza Strip! We guarantee the reliable handover of 100 % of the funds for this very purpose.
