As part of the implementation of the pilot phase of the training component of the Insurance for the Strengthening of Human Capital (ARCH) project, the National Social Protection Agency (ANPS) will provide scheduled training for artisans selected throughout the extent of the national territory in various areas of competence. Since then, hundreds of them have been trained in aluminum carpentry; photovoltaic, painting, tiling, plastering, building electricity and masonry. And deployment in other professions will continue in the coming months. The beneficiaries of the ARCH project have or will have the opportunity to receive concepts and practices allowing them to satisfy their customers. The government uses specialized centers for training artisans as part of the training component of the Insurance project for strengthening human capital. The signing of contracts with the centers concerned was approved this Wednesday, October 18, 2023 by the Council of Ministers. According to the press release from the Council of Ministers, 1,720 craftsmen from various trades will be trained for the year 2023.
The use of specialized centers, according to the government, was decided due to the difficulties encountered in the implementation of the training component of the ARCH project by the National Social Protection Agency (ANPS); which difficulties are linked to the insufficient premises and equipment of the training centers, as well as the low level of qualification of trade experts and trainers in the selected craft trades. As part of the implementation of the pilot phase of the training component of the Insurance for the Strengthening of Human Capital (ARCH) project, the National Social Protection Agency (ANPS) announced in June 2021, the scheduled training of seven thousand (7,000) artisans selected throughout the national territory in various areas of expertise. Since then, several of them have been trained in aluminum carpentry; photovoltaic ; painting, tiling, plastering, building electricity and masonry.

Auto mechanics gathered at the technical training center of the municipal garage of Lokossa followed refresher training in November 2021, as part of this same project. Justin HOUESSOU SONON, President of the Union of Professional Garage Workers of Benin (UGPB) did not hide his impressions: “This ARCH project that the Government has initiated brings us a lot. Auto mechanics from all over Benin gather here. Since the beginning of this training, we have acquired an understanding of the mechanisms and a multitude of important concepts previously ignored in our practice. And we will ensure that our other colleagues, who could not be there, can also benefit from what we learn.” The objective of this training is to give them additional concepts in order to make them more competitive and able to now carry out, with experience and insight, the maintenance and repair of vehicles. The good news for these ARCH-FORMATION beneficiaries who are staying in Lokossa is that the possibility is envisaged for them of being Toyota approved and labeled Arch-Formation, because the current session is organized in partnership with CFAO-MOTORS. Minister TOGNIFODÉ praised the precision work done by the trainers and Arch-Formation focal points. She urged the beneficiaries to capitalize on these gains. She announced that this series of training will continue in other localities very soon: “Lokossa will obviously not be the last. Other trades will benefit from capacity building in the weeks and months to come during the pilot phase of this component of the ARCH.”
