In January, the formula for revaluation of contributory pensions came into force in accordance with the average annual Consumer Price Index (CPI), included in Law 21/2021, of December 28, to guarantee the purchasing power of pensioners before an inflationary context like the current one. Thus, contributory pensions rise by 8.5% and non-contributory retirement and disability pensions and the Minimum Living Income benefit increase, in an extraordinary manner, by 15%.
The lowest pension for those aged 65 or over is set at 10,963.40 euros per year, while for a dependent spouse, it rises to 13,526.80 euros. On the other hand, the maximum pension increases by more than 3,000 euros annually, from 39,468.52 euros to 42,823.49 euros.

The more than 10 million retirees in Spain usually collect their pensions in arrears, between the 1st and 4th. However, many financial institutions sometimes advance the payment of each monthly payment.
This month of October, pensioners will receive their paychecks in their checking accounts earlier than usual, between the 23rd and the 25th, so these are the exact dates on which most banks will pay the pension.
