The Deputy Secretary of Economy of the Popular Party, Juan Bravo, criticized this Saturday that the review of the Spanish Recovery Plan, with which a total of 93.5 billion additional euros will be mobilized, means that “Europe contributes more money because Spain has not grown ».

After the meeting with the Treasury councilors of the autonomous communities governed by the PP, Bravo denounced to the media that the milestones and objectives that had to be met “were not being met”: “The Government has had to recognize the failure in the ‘Next Generation’ since the deadlines have been extended. He also accused the Executive of lack of co-governance, an element “necessary to work with the private sector. It remains undone and that is part of the problem we have,” he stated.

Regarding the introduction of tolls on highways, whose plan has been eliminated with the new addendum, the economic head of the Popular Party expressed his curiosity to “know about this change that has occurred within the European Union towards a new system.” “We will see what it really consists of, since the Government does not transmit the information,” he added.

Difficulties for families

Regarding the budget, he regretted that the autonomous communities “still do not know the payments on account and do not know what the deficit will be.” «We know that at first they talked about a 0% budget balance and, later, they raised it to 0.1% deficit, but really, since the Fiscal Policy Council has not been convened, we cannot have information to be able to prepare budgets,” he explained.

In this sense, he did not rule out “a possible increase in taxes as has already happened in the previous five years” and expressed his concern due to “the enormous difficulties” that families are experiencing: “It is not the most appropriate.”

A new financing

Regarding other economic issues, the PP deputy secretary of Economy asked the Government for a new regional financing system. “The Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, came saying that she would address the financing system and five years later we continue with the same system,” she criticized.

Therefore, as an alternative, Bravo demanded a compensation system that “allows the autonomous communities to obtain the necessary income for those expenses that have been consolidated and that they have been assuming very directly.”

Furthermore, regarding the idea of forgiving debt to Catalonia, he demanded to know what the conditions are because he understands that “the principle of equality will prevail and will be the same for all autonomous communities.”
