Virudhunagar: A former AIADMK union secretary was arrested yesterday on a charge of money laundering against former minister Rajendra Balaji.

Vijaya Nallathambi, 54, of Vembakkottai, Virudhunagar district; Vembakkottai Union AIADMK, Former Secretary. He had lodged a complaint with the District Crime Branch Police alleging that he had taken money from several people and given Rs 3 crore to former minister Rajendra Balaji, claiming that he would buy jobs in Avin.

Similarly, Sathur Raveendran complained to the police that he had given Rs 30 lakh to Vijaya Nallathambi in several installments to buy work for his cousin. Rajendra Balaji was arrested in connection with these complaints and is currently out on bail.

Meanwhile, Vijaya Nallathambi, who had been in hiding for three months, was arrested yesterday by Virudhunagar personal police near Kovilpatti Puliyankulam in Duathukudi district. SB, Manohar, DSP, Kannan, Inspector Ganeshdas interrogate him.
