Chennai – Comedian Jayamani, known for his appearances in Tamil cinema, was arrested on charges of insulting a judge during an altercation in a park. Jayamani and his friend Marimuthu were taken into custody by the police following a complaint filed by Justice Tirumal, a judge from the 7th Court of George Town Court.

The incident took place on the 18th when Jayamani and Marimuthu went for a walk in the Corporation Park near Phoenix Mall in Velachery, Chennai. Coincidentally, Justice Tirumal was also present at the park at that time. A sudden argument ensued between Jayamani and the judge, during which both Jayamani and Marimuthu allegedly hurled insults at Justice Tirumal.

The judge subsequently lodged a complaint at the Chennai Guindy Police Station, leading to the police launching an investigation. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Jayamani and Marimuthu under three counts, including illegal detention, obscene insults, and threats.

Following the registration of the case, the Guindy police arrested Jayamani and Marimuthu. However, both were released on bail after being granted police station bail. All the charges and sections registered against them are subject to further investigation by the police.
