On the sidelines of the inauguration of ‘Il Mosaico delle Meraviglie’, a collective work of art by 9 Sicilian artists promoted by Birra Messina Cristalli di Sale, created thanks to the support of the Foundation and in collaboration with the Italian Youth Association for Unesco and with the patronage of the Municipality of Messina
“We believe that beauty must restart even in the most degraded territories, because it creates that nucleus of change that allows people who have lived for a long time in a degraded context to imagine a different and alternative future, for which they had lost hope”. Thus Giacomo Pinaffo, general secretary of the MeS.S.In.A Foundation, on the sidelines of the inauguration of ‘Il Mosaico delle Meraviglie’, a collective work of art by 9 Sicilian artists promoted by Birra Messina Cristalli di Sale, created thanks to the support of the Foundation and in collaboration with the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO and with the patronage of the Municipality of Messina. “We hope that this small site can become the engine of a broader change – he added -. The Foundation works to promote sustainable development policies in the territories, obviously also including beauty because we believe it is an important stimulus for change in the territories themselves” .
“This area, Fondo Saccà, is an example of these policies – underlined Pinaffo -. The ‘Il Mosaico delle Meraviglie’ project fits into this trend for the generation and revelation of beauty in contexts in which there is a extreme need.” For the general secretary of the MeS.S.In.A Foundation, “the spread of beauty in a city like Messina and, above all, in a context like this is extremely important because it is a stimulus for change: it allows people to dream, desire, imagine a different and better context and future”. Regarding the importance of networking, Pinaffo added: “The Capacity program has made it possible to redevelop this area where there were shacks. The complex project which led to the creation of a park, eco-compatible structures, an energy community and of this beauty generation intervention such as ‘The Mosaic of Wonders’ requires collaboration between many partners. To be able to generate this type of urban regeneration and beauty creation projects – he concluded – collaboration between institutional, private and non-profit organizations in the various sectors of the economy”.
