Head of Production at PlayStation Allegedly Leaves After 34 Years: Rumors and Updates

by time news

Head of Production at PlayStation, Connie Booth, has reportedly left the company after a remarkable 34-year tenure. The news broke when game developer David Jaffe brought attention to the alleged departure on his YouTube channel, citing four unnamed sources.

Jaffe stated, “Here’s what I can tell you, she is no longer at Sony, right? I don’t have a lot of details, I don’t know if she was fired or laid off, when I heard the story everyone was telling me she was fired.” Although Jaffe admitted that the information he received was unverified, he claimed to have heard the news from two insiders and two individuals outside of Sony.

Jaffe also mentioned that Connie Booth’s team had also walked out, and Angie Smets, who had worked at Guerrilla for 20 years, would be taking over Booth’s position. Angie Smets has been serving as the Vice President and Head of Development Strategy for the past seven months, according to her LinkedIn profile.

If the rumors are true, Connie Booth’s departure would mark the end of an impressive 34-year career at Sony. She started with the company in 1989 and assumed executive roles in 1995 as an Executive Producer. Over the years, Booth held various positions within Sony’s Product Development division, including Director, Senior Director, Vice President, and SVP, Head of Internal Production.

At present, Insider Gaming has been unable to verify the rumors but has reached out to sources and Sony for confirmation. Additional information regarding the circumstances of Booth’s departure and any official statements from Sony are yet to be released.
