In conversation with the media, the head of the Ministry of Urban Planning, Housing and Habitat (MUVH), Juan Carlos Baruja, said that the government continues with the delivery of subsidies for housing. Likewise, he pointed out that they are moving forward with preparations for the launch of the program that would be the emblem of his administration, called “Che Roga Porã.”

“I was telling (the vice president of the Republic, Pedro Alliana) about the actions we have been developing. Last week we delivered the first 2,200 subsidies, for the first 2,200 houses of the Santiago Peña government. Now we are moving forward with the government’s other emblematic program, Che Roga Porã, which we want to launch within the first hundred days,” he said.

He stated that, in this way, a historically neglected sector, that of the working class that is paying rent, will find a response within the aforementioned program. This is aimed at families that have incomes of up to four minimum wages, it is a 30-year term financing at an interest rate of 6.5%.

He also said that they are in conversation with the private financial sector, as well as with the other related ministries, to move forward.

“We are looking at the possibility of increasing the number, I cannot give an exact number, it depends on the Minister of Economy (Carlos Fernández Valdovinos), with whom we really have a very good dialogue. After his trip we have to visit him to refine the numbers and, if possible, we will give a greater amount of subsidies. But in these first two months, we have a record,” he pointed out.

He spoke about the portion that would correspond to his ministry among the debts to suppliers and explained that it is lower than the amounts of Health and Public Works. He mentioned that there are about USD 15 million owed for accumulated works, which they are executing within their own budget, since it is not a very significant number.

When asked about the Mariano Roque Alonso housing complex, currently abandoned, he said that currently only three blocks remain and that the others were demolished, although the remaining ones should also be eliminated.

Currently, they are analyzing the possibilities, since there are 17 hectares of property, and apartments could be made there to house the athletes of the Pan American Games, an event in which Paraguay could host in four years, which has yet to be defined. . “We will know that at the end of the month, but the idea is to give the solution to Mariano Roque Alonso,” he said.
