The commander of the internal forces of Belarus Mikalai Karpiankov noted that in order to strengthen the special forces in Belarus, new subdivisions of 70 people have started to be created in Hrodna, Brest, Ostrava and Gomla.
The website “Zerkalo” published excerpts from the speech of the Commander of the Internal Troops of Belarus Mykola Karpyankov to the soldiers of the 3214th military unit near Minsk.
Karpiankov, among other things, said that the new special forces unit “Smerch” today has 300 “main” and 150 “reserve” people. He also mentioned the “Lynx” subsection for working on the border, which has “200-300 people”, as well as the “Honor” detachment.
According to him, in order to strengthen the special forces in Belarus, new subdivisions of 70 people have started to be created in Hrodna, Brest, Ostrava and Gomla.
Mykolai Karpiankov said that there are only 1,500 security forces in the new units.
It is also reported that the requests of the security forces to be dressed, equipped, and armed, to have modern equipment and weapons, were supported by the state, and they received additional funding for 2024.
