The council will have a budget of 44.16 million euros, a figure similar to that of last year (43.83 million. Regarding ordinances, the government team foresees an overall increase of 3.5% in taxes, although it will increase the garbage rate 17.5%.

The budgets envisage allocating 1.85 million euros to the improvement of the residence of Sant Jaume or 700,000 euros in the first phase of the works Covered municipal pool. On the other hand, 200,000 euros will also be invested for the changing rooms at the Garrotxa high school, which were already budgeted for this 2023 but the item is being kept pending the Generalitat to carry out the work. These improvements are part of the government’s commitment to invest one million euros in improving the city’s educational centers.

In the economic field, the budget project presented by Junts and ERC envisages allocating 1.95 million euros in a project of commercial revitalization of the center and 75,000 euros more to convert Can Monsà in the training factory. The council will maintain aid in cultural proposals such as Lluèrnia, the Seismograph or the Fora Orígensothers.

Another axis of Olot’s budget will be the improvement of neighborhoods and municipal facilities. For this reason, the council will allocate 750,000 euros to the asphalt plan, improvements to sidewalks and accessibility or 1.15 to the urbanization of the neighborhood Montolivet. The energy saving item will be 80,000 euros, twice as much as this year. In addition, 456,979 euros are set aside to build a bike lane on the Riudaura road and the addition of six new Municipal Police officers.

The budget reserves an item of 540,000 euros for the purchase of heritage in the old town. It is a project that has the support of all political groups and will be led by the architect Itziar González with the aim of rehabilitating and revitalizing this area of ​​the municipality. This set of investments will be supported by 4.04 million euros from Next Generation funds.

Apart from the budget project, the government team yesterday presented the amendments to the tax ordinances. In general terms, taxes will increase by 3.5%, below the increase in the CPI, which will be between 4 and 5% at the end of this year. This point includes an increase in IBI, among other municipal taxes.

What will go up the most is the garbage rate. The reason given by the government councilors is that the Waste Law obligates councils to cover the entire cost of the service in the rate it charges taxpayers. For this reason, by 2024 the CPI will increase by 15 points, which will amount to around 33 euros per year. Other Girona councils have also approved significant increases in this rate in recent weeks (more information on page 10 of the newspaper).

The bonuses that will be given in theConstruction and Works Tax (ICIO) for people who install solar panels in the Spanish capital. Although until now they received a discount of 50% of the tax, from 2024 the reduction will be 75%. This is one of the bonuses provided for in municipal taxes, which reach 700,000 euros.
