Pessimistic forecast? Pfizer CEO Albert Burla this morning (Monday) commented on the spread of the omicron variant, estimating that more variants will leave the corona as an existing disease in the future as well. However, he said the imposition of restrictions would likely end after the current wave.

“I do not know what will happen in the future, but the most likely scenario is that the corona will continue to be present in our lives for many years to come,” Burla said in an interview with the French BFMTV network. “At the end of the day, it is a virus that spreads naturally all over the world, and the vaccines do not protect for a long time. In addition, new variants will always develop, so there is likely to be some disease in the world.”

“Despite this, this wave should be the last to place restrictions – and that’s the most important thing right now,” Burla clarified. “If we can return to our normal lives, along with the vaccines, medications and treatments that will prevent cases of hospitalization, we can continue to live alongside the corona in the normal way.”
