The ‘La Tomatina’ team held a tomato festival for the filming of the movie despite the increase in tomato prices in Kerala. Ten tons (10,000 kg) of tomatoes were used for the climax of the movie ‘La Tomatina’ written by T Arunkumar and directed by Sajeevan Anthikkad. This is the first time in Malayalam cinema that the Tomato Festival is being shot in Kerala.

The action shoot at the climax of the movie was shot with tomatoes. The tomatoes were brought from Mysore for the climax shoot. The shooting of the movie is over. ‘La Tomatina’ is a harvest festival in Spain. The main event of the festival is the people throwing and trampling tomatoes on each other. The large tank is filled with tomatoes first and then crushed and thrown away.

After fuel, tomatoes are the most valuable commodity in Kerala today. Moreover, vegetable prices are on the rise in the general market. The price of many things has crossed the century. Tomatoes have crossed Rs 70. The government turned its head to keep the price down but did not see enough benefit. Although vegetables have been procured directly from the farmers of Tenkashi and delivered to Kerala through Horticorp since the 28th of last month, the prices in the public market have been rising sharply.
