According to a report provided by the Pas-de-Calais prefecture, 24 people were slightly injured. It is mainly a question of discomfort, drunkenness and beatings. An individual was also arrested for damaging a police vehicle.

If the Lensois supporters experienced a thrilling evening, both in terms of the progress of the match and the intensity of the game (1-1), they also felt a tense atmosphere and witnessed clashes that occurred on the sidelines of the encounter.

Incidents in the stadium

In the afternoon, before kick-off, as supporters converged on the stadium, incidents broke out between police and Dutch ultras, who threw projectiles and smoke bombs at the latter. The police used tear gas to disperse the troublemakers. In the city center, calm returned around 8 p.m.

At the break, however, around 9:45 p.m., an episode of tension occurred inside the stadium itself. Dutch supporters tore up and threw several seats and smoke bombs towards the Lens supporters. The latter responded by throwing glasses of beer at the visiting supporters. The situation was brought under control after riot police took up positions in front of the Dutch parking lot.

The Pas-de-Calais prefecture had anticipated the presence of “nearly 2,000 Dutch supporters including around 500 hooligans” for this meeting.
