Akshay Ridlan of Mumbai has invented a locket with QR Code, which is very beneficial for the elderly and people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. Even if they get lost somewhere by mistake, they can come home safely with the help of this locket.

Our daily newspapers are full of news about missing people. Often, after seeing such information, we sympathize with those families but the next moment we forget it, becoming mere spectators. You will be surprised to know that according to the World Population Review of 2023, even in the digital age, 64,851 people go missing in India every month. Instead of being surprised by these reports, Akshay Ridlan from Mumbai decided to do something about it and made a locket with QR Code.

Akshay, a data engineer by profession, has designed a QR pendant with the help of modernity and technology which can prove to be a boon for people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s, the elderly and even disabled children.
Actually, till the year 2019, Akshay was preparing for UPSC. During this time, he used to read newspapers daily and that’s when he came to know about this problem of missing people.

Akshay was surprised that while we have advanced so much in technology, why has no modern solution to this problem been found yet?
Then 24-year-old Akshay decided to find a technology-based solution to this problem.

In this way, on September 12, 2023, Akshay made a QR pendant and launched it under Project ‘Chetna’. It is just like a normal pendant which can be worn with a chain around the neck. What makes this pendant special is the QR code inside it. When scanned, the QR code will give basic information about the person wearing it, like their medical history, address, contact number etc.

Even before this, Akshay had made a similar belt with QR Code for the dogs living on the streets. Which today people across the country are using to protect the voiceless people around them.

Through this new project, Akshay is trying to reduce another problem of the common people. To know more about this QR code pendant, you can contact Akshay here.
