A recent TikTok video by Taylor Offer, CEO of the clothing brand Feat, has caused quite a stir by naming Nashville as the worst city to live in as a 20-something. In the viral clip, which has garnered 3 million views, Offer shared his personal ranking of the three worst cities for young adults in the United States.

Offer began by discussing Miami, citing its muggy weather and high cost of living as reasons why it placed third on his list. He also expressed frustration with the array of expensive clubs and restaurants that made him feel “so poor.” Interestingly, despite Offer’s criticism, Miami ranked seventh in WalletHub’s list of best places to start a career and sixth on Resonance Consultancy’s “America’s Best Cities” catalog, where New York City claimed the top spot.

San Francisco, despite its fourth place rank on the “America’s Best Cities” index, placed second on Offer’s list. He described the city as “horrible” and “a s—hole of a city,” emphasizing its exorbitant rent prices and imbalanced gender ratio at bars and clubs. Offer also complained about the prevalence of human feces on the city’s streets and the risks of having a car broken into.

However, Offer’s top pick for the worst city for 20-somethings was Nashville. In his video, he criticized the city’s lack of healthy food options and overconsumption of fried food, which he claimed led to rapid weight gain. He also mentioned the hot and humid southern summers and referred to the city as “racist and backwards.”

Unsurprisingly, Offer’s outspoken opinions sparked a heated debate in the comments section. While some viewers disagreed with his remarks, several former residents or visitors of the three cities agreed with Offer’s ranking. Others defended their favorite cities, with many advocating for Chicago as a desirable place to live in one’s twenties.

In a subsequent video, Offer shared his thoughts on the best cities for 20-somethings, naming New York City, Austin, Texas, and Los Angeles as the top three. However, whether his rankings will receive the same level of controversy remains to be seen.

As the debate continues, it is evident that personal experiences and perspectives greatly influence opinions about the best and worst cities for young adults.
