Cargo Beamer and Girteka reach 20,000 semi-trailers transported intermodal

This cooperation, which integrates rail and road logistics, was born in 2017 to reduce carbon emissions and offer sustainable solutions to the supply chain. That year, Girteka uploaded his first units in the Cargo Beamer compositions. Since then, the main combined route during these years, train-road, has been from Kaldenkirchen, in Germany to Domodossola, in Italy.
Three years later, in 2020, they increased their collaboration with several trains between Germany and Lithuania, connecting Kaldenkirchen with Šeštokai and Kaldenkirchen with Kaunas. Additionally, in January 2022, they announced two new intermodal lines.
Girteka has provided more than 17.2 million kilometers of combined transportation services with this cooperation. Using Cargo Beamer’s horizontal and parallel loading and unloading technology, entire intermodal trains are handled in a record time of about twenty minutes, a solution that allows goods to reach their destination in a period of twenty-three hours on a route of 825 kilometers.
Cargo Beamer’s first own terminal, which is equipped with horizontal transhipment technology, was inaugurated in Calais, France in 2021, two more are planned to open in Kaldenkirchen and Domodossola.
