Hugo Francisco Gramajo, brother of the mayor of Villa Nueva, Javier Gramajo, was hired in Congress as an assistant in the General Directorate, as confirmed by the payroll published on the Legislative website.

It’s news. Gramajo was hired starting in September of this year under line 029 with a monthly salary of Q16 thousand. He is one of the 180 hired under that line and occupies one of the seven positions assigned to the General Directorate.

What to highlight. The brother of the mayor of Villa Nueva unsuccessfully sought a seat in the June 25 electoral process. Although he occupied the third box for the Department of Guatemala, he did not add the votes to be one of the 39 deputies elected by the still official party for the 2024-2028 legislature.

The Vamos party added 42,846 votes, which is equivalent to 5.58 percent. By finishing in fifth position, they only achieved two seats for the department, which remained in the hands of Shirley Rivera and Cándido Leal, who headed the list.

The data. Javier Gramajo, mayor of Villa Nueva, came in second place and lost re-election to candidate Mynor Morales Zurita of the Valor party. Despite this, he has maintained his influence in the party thanks to his friendship with the current president of Congress, Shirley Rivera, since his brother Jorge Luis continues as Departmental Governor.

Both will have to hand over the position in January 2024.
