Title: Petrol Bomb Attack at Governor’s House in Chennai Sparks Demands for NIA or CBI Investigation

Chennai: Following a shocking incident of a petrol bomb attack at the gate of the Governor’s House in Guindy, Chennai, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has called for the investigation to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Srinivasan claims that the Tamil Nadu Police, being a department under the control of the DMK, cannot be trusted to conduct an impartial investigation.

The attack occurred while President Drabupati Murmu was visiting Chennai, adding to the severity of the incident. The police have arrested Rowdy Garukka Vinod in connection with the incident. Notably, Vinod was recently apprehended for throwing a petrol bomb at the BJP headquarters in Chennai on February 10, 2022. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of four petrol bombs.

The DMK government has been criticized for their recommendation to release terrorists convicted of planting bombs in Coimbatore, which resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians. Srinivasan argues that this breakdown of law and order is evident in the audacity of the attackers, who targeted the Governor’s House with petrol bombs.

There is a growing concern that the release of Coimbatore blast prisoners could pose a significant threat to the security of Tamil Nadu. Srinivasan emphasizes the importance of treating terrorists as terrorists and not using their release as a political strategy to gain the support of a particular community.

Critics have also pointed out that the Tamil Nadu police seem to have limited resources when it comes to making timely arrests, especially if those individuals are critical of the DMK government or express anti-Hindu sentiments on social media. This raises doubts about their willingness to conduct a thorough investigation into the petrol bomb attack.

Srinivasan further highlights that the nature of the attack suggests it was unlikely an act committed by a lone individual. Therefore, a comprehensive background investigation of Rowdy Karukka Vinod is necessary. To ensure an impartial and rigorous probe, Srinivasan insists that the case should be handed over to either the NIA or the CBI, given their expertise in dealing with such matters.

As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the demand for an independent agency to take charge will be heeded. The attack at the Governor’s House has raised concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu and the potential threat it poses to the security of the state.
