The Italian Statistical Institute (Istat) has just released its report on poverty in Italy in 2022, the first year of the right-wing and far-right coalition government led by Giorgia Meloni. The absolute poverty figures are alarming. Especially since the so-called citizenship income, a type of social financial aid, will be abolished from 2024.
