The deputies of the Legislative Assembly with 72 votes in favor approved the transitional decree to reduce the electricity rate by 14%, which will be valid retroactively from October 15 with a validity until April 14, 2024.
“The recently inaugurated 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Power Plant will allow the electricity rate to be reduced, because it will inject more renewable resources into the national matrix. We will be paying 14% less thanks to the initiative of our President Nayib Bukele since the 3 de Febrero Hydroelectric Power Plant is already operational,” said the president of the CEL, Daniel Álvarez.
The measure was announced at a critical moment, as the entire world is experiencing an increase in the price of hydrocarbons, fuels and electrical energy.
According to the Press Secretariat, this new Hydroelectric Power Plant will allow the generation of electrical energy with renewable and cheaper resources to the national matrix.
