Without caregivers, there would be few services for preschoolers, seniors, or the disabled.

Without caregivers, millions of people would be unable to go to work, meaning parents would be unable to support their families and businesses would lose valuable talent.

Therefore, on this first International Day of Care and Support, the International Labor Organization calls for strong investment in the care economy and in policies that guarantee maternity protection, parental leave, education and early childhood care and long-term care services.

These policies will support families, create up to 300 million jobs and contribute to achieving gender equality.

This is a day to celebrate caregivers, but it is also a day to drive change in the way we care.
