Renowned for its long-term investigations and reports, the quarterly review XXIplaced in receivership in August, is taken over by the Indigo Publications press group, which already publishes The letter (formerly Letter A), announced Indigo Publications on Friday October 27. The Paris commercial court validated on Friday the unique takeover offer – that of the family group, also owner ofAfrica Intelligence, Intelligence Online et Glitzall online, according to the judgment consulted by Agence France-Presse.

XXIpioneer of the mook (half-book, half-magazine) launched in 2008, will still be published quarterly and will be available “in bookstores, at Relay points and by subscription”specifies Indigo Publications in a press release. “A website will also be launched from January 2024 which will publish surveys, reports and portfolios on a weekly basis in editorial consistency with the printed edition”he adds.

Indigo Publications also takes over the photojournalism magazine 6Moiswhich was launched in 2011 by the team of XXI. “After a final paper edition, which will be published in mid-November, the photographic stories that make the original 6Mois will be included in the review XXI in print and digital formats »adds Quentin Botbol, ​​general director of Indigo Publications.

A subsidiary is created for this relaunch, with 300,000 euros invested. Four of the eight employees are taken on and Elsa Fayner will continue to be the editor-in-chief of XXI. “We planned to recruit and put the survey at the center of the offer”, said Quentin Botbol. Investigative journalist Clément Fayol joins the team as head of investigation.

XXI had already changed ownership in mid-2018, after the liquidation of its publisher Rollin Publications, weighed down by the failure of the ephemeral weekly Ebdo. With 6mois, XXI was owned by the Quatre company. Without advertising, the magazine suffered from the rise in the price of paper and a decline in the number of its readers, which currently stands at 17,000. The turnover of Indigo Publications, increasing from 16% to 18% per year, should reach more than 9 million euros in 2023, hopes the group, which made 1.25 million last year. euros of profits. It has 85 employees and nearly 130 freelancers.
