The first specialist doctors arrive in Acapulco

Given the disaster caused by Hurricane Otis in Acapulco, the doctors have been the first to show solidarity. Although beyond sending hygiene products and non-perishable food, a group of specialists came in person to offer their services to the population that lost everything due to the natural disaster.

A total of 23 specialists from the National Institutes of Health and highly specialized hospitals left by air and by land for Acapulco Guerreroto help the population affected by the hurricane Otis.

Of the 23 specialists, 18 make up six brigades that moved towards Acapulcoby the Aeroméxico airlift, to provide medical care.

The 18 health professionals that make up the six brigades are specialists in perinatal and surgical nursing; and in emergencies, trauma, orthopedics and pediatrics, as well as surgery residents, from the Ixtapaluca Regional High Specialty Hospital, National Institute of Pediatrics, Women’s Hospital, “Dr. Manuel Gea González”, National Institute of Geriatrics and National Institute of Perinatology “Isidro Espinosa de los Reyes”.

Both the brigades and the critical transfer ambulance will support the “Renacimiento” General Hospital, the “El Quemado” General Hospital, both of IMSS-Bienestar, as well as the work in the territory that is required.

By instruction of the holder of the Coordinating Commission of National Institutes of Health and High Specialty Hospitals (CCINSHAE)Gustavo Reyes Terán, the 23 health professionals from the entities that belong to the CCINSHAE are led by the internist and intensivist of the INCMNSZ, Thierry Hernández Gilsoul.

In addition to this sending of specialists, the national health institutes and highly specialized hospitals of the CCINSHAE are ready to receive patients from Guerrero who require specialized care.

A contingent of specialist doctors and nursing staff left the Mexico City international airport this morning for the state of Guerrero, with the purpose of providing support to the population affected by the passage of hurricane Otis.

IMSS and ISSSTE also offer help

The general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, highlighted the commitment of the specialist medical personnel to reinforce the care of the Guerrero population and support the health personnel in the entity.

As part of the actions carried out by Social Security to address the catastrophe, coordination is maintained with the Secretary of the Navy and the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Team (ERUM) of the government of Mexico City for the air transfer of patients.

Yesterday, five newborns and a 3-year-old girl who were hospitalized at the Regional General Hospital No. 1 of the IMSS in Acapulco were received at the General Hospital of the National Medical Center “La Raza” and at the High Specialty Hospital “Centenario de the Revolution” of the ISSSTE.
