In search of new sources of income, Elon Musk’s online platform X has introduced a more expensive subscription version without any advertising. In Germany it costs a good 19 euros per month. In the only subscription model to date for 9.52 euros, the number of advertisements is halved. In addition to the more expensive subscription, X also introduced a cheaper version at the weekend for 3.57 euros with fewer functions.
A year ago, Musk bought the short message service Twitter for $44 billion and renamed it X. Ad revenue, which has always been the basis of Twitter’s business, then halved as companies fear a more negative environment for their brands. The tech billionaire is increasingly trying to fill the gap with subscription revenue.
