More than 300 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested and issued court summonses after they caused the temporary closure of Grand Central Terminal during rush hour, officials reported on Saturday.

The protest resulted in “335 individuals receiving Criminal Court summonses for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.” The demonstrators, many of whom wore black shirts stating “Jews say cease-fire now,” took over the terminal’s concourse while chanting slogans like “No more weapons. No more war. Ceasefire is what we’re fighting for.”

Protesters occupied the station, climbed atop ticket counters, and hung banners advocating for Palestinian freedom and expressing the sentiment of “never again for anyone.” The demonstration was organized by the Jewish Voice for Peace and coincided with Israel announcing plans to escalate its ground campaign in Gaza.

The situation was resolved when the protesters were led out of the station in zip cuffs after being arrested and subsequently issued summonses. Throughout the evening rush hour, pro-Israel protesters were also present at Grand Central, advocating for peace in the region.

The incident caused significant disruption to commuters, with the terminal temporarily closing and creating delays during peak travel times. However, authorities were swift in their response and worked efficiently to restore order and allow operations to resume.

The clash of voices once again highlights the ongoing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians, with both sides demanding solutions and an end to the violence. The situation in the Middle East continues to be closely monitored by the international community as efforts to find a peaceful resolution persist.
