The work of an unbalanced person? A 42-year-old man was placed in police custody this Friday in the premises of the Creil police station for “public apologies for an act of terrorism, death threats against a mission manager public service and repeated malicious calls,” the Compiègne public prosecutor’s office said this Saturday in a press release.

He is notably “suspected of having contacted the Compiègne hospital center by telephone on multiple occasions, notably threatening to commit attacks on the Eiffel Tower”. Brought before the public prosecutor’s office this Saturday, he was placed in pre-trial detention pending the immediate appearance hearing at the Compiègne court where he will be judged this Monday, October 30.

This is not the first time in recent weeks that the Oise police services have been confronted with this type of behavior. On October 16, two men were placed in police custody in Creil for “direct provocation of an act of terrorism committed by means of an online communication service”. On Snapchat, they published on October 13, a few hours after the assassination in Arras of Professor Dominique Bernard, a photo of one of them with a knife in his hand accompanied by the message “Ready for war my guy”.

Placed under judicial supervision, the two individuals, who assure that it was a “joke”, will be tried at the Senlis court in December. On October 20, a student from the Pierre-d’Ailly high school, in Compiègne, was arrested. Placed in police custody, he was suspected of having told a professor at the establishment that he was going to do “the same as in Arras and Brussels” and of making threats of attacks and comments referring to Hitler. .
