In addition, DB is investing 60 million euros to modernize the travel centers. in the twenty-five busiest stations, and Dsseldorf central station is already showing the new design. The stations in Berlin, Mannheim, Cologne and Hamburg will be as follows.

For passengers who book trips in the DB Navigator app, it will also be possible to digitally purchase a ticket to bring a dog or a bicycle. More frequent and faster between cities

DIncrease the number of seats between major cities by introducing longer trains, especially on the corridors between Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalian cities such as Cologne and Dsseldorf. With a new two-hour ICE line between Berlin, Wuppertal and Cologne, it will no longer be necessary to split and couple trains every two hours in Hamm, Westphalia. which will shorten the travel time between the Rhine and the Spree by up to ten minutes and the ICE trains that pass through Dortmund and Dsseldorf will be able to run every two hours with double the capacity.

The new line and the modified timetables of the existing lines will create a half-hourly service between Hanover and Berlin. Travelers between Berlin and Munich, southern Germany, will benefit from up to fourteen Sprinter trips in each direction, almost double the previous frequency. In particular, three new Sprinters will cover the Berlin-Nremberg route in just three hours and 45 minutes, offering a direct connection without stops.

Intercity connections

From 2024, the travel time between Berlin and Amsterdam will also be reduced by around thirty minutes, thanks to the introduction of Talgo’s ICE-L on that route. This is achieved through the use of multi-system locomotives, which eliminates the costly locomotive change at the border between Holland and Germany, and represents a new concept of stopping on the line.

DB is significantly expanding its offer on the Nuremberg-Jena-Leipzig intercity connection. Instead of one, there will now be five trips in each direction each day. With Rudolstadt and Ludwigsstadt, East Thuringia and Upper Franconia will get two additional stops for long-distance transport. Compared to Regional Express, travelers on this route travel 30 minutes faster on the IC.

Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern also benefit from additional IC connections. Magdeburg will have a new direct intercity connection to/from Hamburg with a stop in Stendal. On each of the existing connections Leipzig–Magdeburg–Schwerin–Rostock and Norddeich–Magdeburg–Potsdam–Berlin, there will be one additional trip.
