Muscat: Oman builds dams to store rainwater Oman Dams were also built to store water flowing from the mountains. The new dams are being built in the governorate of North Al Batina in Oman. Oman is also renovating old dams.

Oman is planning to build more small dams to avoid flooding in populated areas. The project will help in expanding agricultural projects and raising the groundwater level. There are four dams each in Suhar and Saham districts and two in Khabora district.
